Jon Jones only had six fights on his resume before signing with the UFC but one of those actually came against an opponent who would eventually join him in the promotion a few years later.
Back in 2008 — just two months before Jones made his octagon debut — he took on Parker Porter in a light heavyweight bout under the World Championship Fighting banner.
What would eventually become part of his audition tape for the UFC, Jones needed just 36 seconds to demolish Porter in a one-sided fight.
While Jones is now the reigning UFC heavyweight champion, Porter actually ended up competing exclusively in that division for most of his career but back then he was still fighting at 205 pounds. Jones earned the emphatic victory and then fought again less than a month later where he took out Moyses Gabin in his final fight before moving to the UFC.
The rest is history.
The never-before-seen footage was released ahead of UFC 309 where Jones returns to action for the first time in over a year when he faces Stipe Miocic in the main event.
Check out the fight and see how Jones looked in one of his earliest fights before eventually amassing a perfect 6-0 record to join the UFC roster where he would go onto become arguably the greatest fighter of all-time.
