Jim Miller continues to extend his all of his records inside the octagon as he made quick work of Damon Jackson at UFC 309 on Saturday.

The lightweight veteran snatched a nasty guillotine choke and then fell down into his guard to secure the submission. Jackson was trapped and it only took him a moment to tap out with the end coming at 2:44 in the opening round.

Following the conclusion of the fight, Jackson removed his gloves and left them in the center of the octagon to announce his retirement from the sport, although he declined an interview afterwards. Jackson fell to 1-4 in his past five fights with the loss.

As for Miller, the seemingly ageless 41-year-old continues to defy the odds while improving his record to 6-2 over his past eight fights.

ā€œIt feels amazing,ā€ Miller said about the win. ā€œI figured out the guillotine, itā€™s almost 20 years ago now. I have a little bit different approach to my grip. I can squeeze for five minutes if I need to.

ā€œThereā€™s still some tread left on the tires. Letā€™s see if I can make it to 50 [fights in the UFC]. Iā€™m always looking for the finish and Iā€™m happy that I could give you guys a good one.ā€

It was another impressive win for Miller, who holds records for the most fights (45) and the most wins (27) in UFC history and heā€™s still going strong.

Early in the fight, Miller appeared ready to outstrike Jackson as they traded shots on the feet but the former featherweight turned lightweight kept looking to close the distance and use his grappling. That backfired in the worst way possible when he ducked his head down and Miller saw the opening for the guillotine choke, which is one of his best finishing maneuvers.

Once Miller had the choke locked on, Jackson was forced to either tap or fall asleep from the submission.

Several years ago, Miller teased that he wanted to stick around just so he could fight at UFC 300 after previously appearing at UFC 100 and UFC 200. While he made that goal earlier this year, Miller isnā€™t slowing down yet and it looks like heā€™s still got plenty of fight left in him.
