Following a teaser last month, 100 Thieves has officially confirmed its entry into the Marvel Rivals esports scene.

In a short video on 100 Thieves’ X (formerly Twitter) account with the caption ‘Preparations are complete,’ the esports organisation teased its Marvel Rivals roster without revealing any members just yet.

On February 26th, the organisation published a short teaser, displaying the 100 Thieves logo as part of Captain America’s shield, followed by the words: “It was inevitable.”

Shortly after the confirmation post on March 10th, the official 100 Thieves Esports account hinted that the roster will be announced soon: “Jarvis, announce the Marvel Rivals roster.”

Since its foundation in 2017, 100 Thieves has established itself as one of North America’s most recognisable esports brands, creating rosters in VALORANT, Apex Legends and League of Legends (LoL). The organisation is also known for its innovative merchandise and apparel collections, which include releases in partnership with Adidas Originals and Pokemon.

However, 100 Thieves is by far not the first major esports organisation to attempt to capitalise on Marvel Rivals’ growing potential as an esports title. With the launch of global and regional Marvel Rivals events, such as the Marvel Rivals Championship and the Invitational series, the likes of Fnatic, OG Esports and Team Envy have announced their rosters.

Moreover, Virtus.Pro and Sentinels have already secured their first champion titles in the scene, winning the Invitational EMEA and Fight Night #1, respectively.

Earlier this month, the game’s developer, NetEase Games, confirmed its focus on developing its esports ecosystem to drive growth.

In the company’s latest Q4 2024 Earnings Call, Bill Pang, Vice President of Corporate Development at NetEase, said: “Marvel Rivals, especially after Season 1, has gained wide appraisal from worldwide players. […]

And we do believe this product, we’re going to keep operating, keep enhancing, keep investing for 10 years and beyond.”
