Bruno Silva suffered a scary loss Saturday night in Montreal after being on the receiving end of a first-round knockout to Marc-Andre Barriault at UFC 315 that had him leave the octagon on a stretcher.

Later on the broadcast, the UFC informed viewers that “Blindado” was taken to a local hospital for a checkup after complaining of neck pain, although he was alert and with movement in all of his extremities.

Hours after the event, Silva used his Instagram page to provide a health update.

“Stopping by to inform that I’m fine,” Silva wrote in Portuguese. “I went to the hospital and did exams, it’s all OK with my health.”

Silva openly discussed the mental health issues he’s faced during his recent fights, telling MMA Fighting he focused on treatment before being given a last chance by UFC matchmaker Mick Maynard.

Likely done with the UFC now after losing five in a row, including the first knockout setback of his 36-fight career, Silva lamented the fact he didn’t get a victory so he could share his message to a larger audience.

“I’ve received a lot of messages from people that really like me,” Silva wrote. “I was well, I wanted to win so I could give my message, of everything I went through to come back to my feet, but it’s part of life. I’m a winner, and this moment won’t end my story and my legacy. All honor and glory to God.”

Silva leaves the UFC with a promotional record of 4-7, scoring all of his wins by way of knockout, including finishes of Brad Tavares and Jordan Wright.

Canada’s Barriault snapped a three-fight skid with the home-country victory, boosting his overall MMA record to 17-9 (1 NC).
