BJ Penn (Video)
B.J. Penn

B.J. Penn is going down a dark path.

It’s been painful for UFC fans to watch the decline of one of MMA’s greatest fighters over the past 15 years, both in and out of the cage. The sad end to Penn’s professional career—which saw him go winless in his last eight fights—seems insignificant now compared to the 46-year-old’s troubling personal life.

This past week, Penn was arrested not once, but twice, and his own mother had to file a restraining order against him barring him from being within 100 feet of her. If the reports of Penn’s mental decline are true—he has made several disturbing social media posts accusing his family of being “impostors”—then this is truly a staggering fall from grace for the fan-favorite fighter and a seminal figure in the UFC’s rise to prominence.

For the most part, there has been a wide show of support from the MMA community, many of whom are just hoping that Penn gets some help.

Check out fan reactions to the ongoing saga below.

This is one of the saddest stories in the MMA world. Does anyone know if he gets some type of professional help (to prevent this from ending bad)?
Dustinovsky
I hope he does receive professional help. I also wonder what they do with former athletes who pretty clearly seem to be suffering from CTE-related issues.
Be subpar for Ja’Marr
Hoping for the best, but I’m not sure this story is gonna have a happy ending unless there’s a big intervention soon. Most worried for his mom

I don’t know what’s crazier…BJ Penn or all the folks in the IG thread saying they got BJ’s back, the whole situation “sounds suspicious”, it’s the cops fault, etc. If you actually cared about him, just support the man getting help for crying out loud. We live in a crazy ass world I tell you.

Hard to read all of this. Penn was always game and exciting. That 7 fight skid should never have been allowed to happen. Perhaps better caution should be exercised by the UFC. This sport is brutal and really there is no place for anyone who is not at top performance level. The back end of fighters careers needs to be better addressed and understood otherwise, for our enjoyment, there is an accumulating pile of discarded fighters in the back lot.

What really upset me are all the people in BJ’s comments creating an ecochamber for him.
I’m afraid he is just going to spiral further into all of this, reinforced by his so-called “fans”. This guy needs help & I hope it doesn’t get any worse.
We are really just now seeing a lot of these established guys from the earlier days of this sport age & it is rough to see. BJ is just one example.
Chris B1
And the UFC and Dana kept on running him out there years after his best before date. The ending of B.J.’s story isn’t going to good folks. C.T.E. is real folks.
MrJangle
Wow. I’ve laughed at him for years for his shenanigans but this just seems sad. Imposter family members?? Dudes living a Jordan Peele horror movie. I still might laugh at him, but it’s strictly giggles from here on out and no belly laughs.

The Jon Jones-Tom Aspinall goes on… and on… and on…

Sounds like you guys are a little fed up with all this Jon Jones nonsense, huh?

Nicolas Caged
I think that makes it perfectly clear that it’s time for the UFC to strip Jones and finally let the HW division move on. For whatever reason, it seems like he’s not willing to vacate the belt. So, the UFC needs to do the right thing and strip him.
It’s actually for the best because he can take as much time as he wants to figure out what he wants to do. And if he does decide to come back, he can be free to fight whoever he wants, whenever he wants. In the meantime, Tom can be promoted to undisputed champ and defend the belt against all comers.
It’s a win-win. Do it Dana. Do it now! #StripJonJones
Brian Voodoo
TLDR. I know it’s more narcissism and duck quacking. Strip him now, he’s too busy living the HIGH life to compete.
repocr4
Give up the belt, sociopath.
Dustinovsky
Far louder than Jones or Aspinall is the silence of the UFC, particularly White. If he and Jones were not simpatico on plans for the near future, I think we’d be hearing about it–likely through White’s traditional filter of “he must be scared to fight”.
I personally think Jones will absolutely fight Aspinall in 2025. His comments and posts are either for the sake of negotiation, which he sucks at, or more likely an attempt to create demand. He’s always been tone deaf to how fans will react to pretty much anything he does. He thinks he’s selling tickets for his “big final fight”.
klev21
This is all so EXHAUSTINGLY STUPID I have no more energy for it….hell this nonsense has me questioning my entire mma fandom….but remember when the UFC used to be able to deliver the fights we wanted to see? What happened to that?
Wyld Stallones
Sport killer. I don’t know how anyone with a brain can take the UFC seriously at this point.
Daddydaft
There is not one singular moment that would make me happier than Jones getting knocked stiff by Aspinall.
Skoomskaa
This isn’t a Jon Jones issue, or a Tom Aspinall issue. It’s a UFC/Dana White issue. And ultimately a fan acceptance issue.
Hespect617
This is going to be a hot take, but hear me out.
Something doesn’t seem right about all of this. Is the delay really on Jones’ end? The UFC-ESPN deal’s expiration date is towards the end of 2025. Are they “storing” this fight to use as a bargaining chip for negotiations with potential broadcast partners? Does Jon really not want to fight Aspinall?
The UFC has been dead silent on the issue.
Tuhghn
How can the UFC tolerate this? Jones isn’t really mocking Aspinall but he’s mocking the UFC. The Miocic fight was already weak but the way they are allowing Jones to destroy the HW division now makes the UFC look very bad. Why wait for somebody who at best will only fight once more?

Nate Diaz confident ‘I’d beat the sh*t out of Belal Muhammad’ watching UFC 315, Muhammad responds

Nate Diaz didn’t think much of Belal Muhammad’s title fight loss at UFC 315, but does anyone think he can really beat the now-former champion? Probably worth noting Diaz hasn’t competed in an MMA fight since 2022.

UK Watching
When last did Nate beat the shit out of anyone?
Head_Busta
All talk, he sucks.
Brotherwu
Did he know there was a camera on him when he said that?
iamthekeyboardwarrior
No fan of what’s his name but he tosses 209 around like a sack of potatoes. It would be the Rory fight again but worse because Nate has been completely washed for years. Nate said that before the fight started. He just wants to come back to the UFC for a big payday in exchange for getting completely wrecked. He should fight in BKFC against Mike Perry. His face would probaby fall off.

Tony Ferguson takes shots at old rival Khabib Nurmagomedov: ‘He’s still fat’

Gentlemen, please, can’t we all just get along?

Tuco Benedicto Pacifico Juan Maria Ramirez
I don’t say this with anything but sympathy, but if this was a Dickens novel made into a movie it would be “A Tale of Two Career Trajectories”, starring Khabib as ‘the best of times’ and Cucuy as ‘the worst of times’. Sadly.
Electric_Company
Give it up Tony brother
Barnabus Dupree
Technically Khabib isn’t still fat, he’s just fat again. He’d also still maul TFerg. I do miss having Tony’s particular brand of crazy around, though. He was pure entertainment…in and out of the cage.
Nahzuul
Yes Khabib is fat. As in a big, fat O on his record. Tony has lost 8 straight and doesn’t know when to quit fighting either in the promotion or with Khabib.
Khabib, the thrill of victory. Tony, the agony of defeat.
Saku’sMissingEar
Man, still stings that fight never happened. No chance in hell Tony wins now, but when he was in his prime he just had a way of causing enough chaos that he could 50/50 his way til someone broke or made a mistake. We will never know what could have been.
semantic5
Tony is basically Uncle Rico now; if only coach had put him in
