Phil Rowe always wins by finish, even if he makes the fans wait for it sometimes.
That’s what happened Saturday at UFC Atlanta, when it looked like Rowe was headed to a decision defeat at the hands of Ange Loosa. After being outworked through the first two rounds, Rowe found a second wind with a minute remaining in the fight and he battered a tiring Loosa with strikes against the fence to score a stunning comeback knockout.

The official time of the stoppage was 4:03 into Round 3, meaning Rowe was literally less than a minute away from taking a loss.
Loosa used his grappling to control the majority of the contest, repeatedly grounding Rowe and then keeping him on the mat while peppering him with strikes. It was a strong performance for the Swiss fighter, though his gas tank visibly waned as the bout progressed. By the time Rowe made his move in the final round, Loosa looked like he was gasping for air before falling to his knees and being saved by referee Brent McKeehan.
With the win, Rowe snapped a two-fight skid and he boosted his UFC record to 4-3. He is 11-5 overall as a pro, with all 11 of those wins coming by way of knockout or submission.
Loosa (10-5, 1 NC) is now winless in his past three appearances, which includes back-to-back losses to Rowe and Gabriel Bonfim and a no-contest against Bryan Battle.
