Morgan Charriere went into enemy territory and made a huge statement.
“The Last Pirate” sailed into UFC Nashville to face Tennessee’s own Nate Landwehr and after two rounds of back-and-forth action, Charriere turned up the heat early in Round 3 to score a hellacious knockout.
While it was a disappointing finish for Landwehr’s home-state crowd, there was no knocking Charriere’s performance. He chopped away at Landwehr’s lead leg early on, but seemed to abandon that strategy in favor of going toe-to-toe with his hard-hitting opponent. The aggressive shift only spurred Landwehr on as he threw haymakers at Charriere and it looked like the fighters were tied up on the scorecards heading into the third.
Then Charriere threw caution to the wind, leading to a KO victory just 27 seconds into the final round.
The bout was shaping up to be a classic before the finish and Charriere’s peers were wowed by his latest win, with Terrance McKinney tweeting, “That was real life Talladega Nights just now. Nate wouldn’t say [he] liked crepes. Stood on business. That fight went crazy.”
