This is the UFC 318 live blog for Michael Johnson vs. Daniel Zellhuber, the main card lightweight bout Saturday at Smoothie King Center in New Orleans.
Johnson (24-19) is one of the longest tenured fighters in the UFC lightweight division. He makes his 27th walk to the octagon tonight, a record of longevity that trails only Clay Guida (30) and Jim Miller (43). Since making his UFC debut as an Ultimate Fighter finalist in 2010, Johnson has fought a number of notable names in the 155- and 145-pound division, scoring wins over the likes of Dustin Poirier, Tony Ferguson, and Edson Barboza. The 39-year-old is coming off of back-to-back wins, his first win streak since 2018.
Looking to add a veteran name to his hit list is Zellhuber (15-2), a 26-year-old blue-chipper from Mexico that has earned Fight of the Night honors in his past two outings. In his most recent fight, Zellhuber lost a thrilling split decision to Esteban Ribovics and he wants to get back in the winning track by knocking off Johnson.
