Bella Mir remained undefeated with her first fight in three years after scoring a quick win with a rarely seen submission at Fury FC’s Challenger Series 14 on Sunday.
Following a few striking exchanges on the feet, Mir swooped inside for a single leg takedown and she never let Calderon up again. Once Mir got on the ground, she worked to advance her position until taking the mount, which forced her opponent to scramble and ultimately gave up her back.
Mir wasted no time grabbing onto a one-armed kimura while also latching onto a possible rear-naked choke. In the end, Mir just torqued the arm behind Calderon’s back and she had no choice but to tap out or risk potential injury.

The end came at 3:58 in the first round.
“That’s folkstyle wrestling right there. That’s a chicken wing,” Mir said about her submission. “I’m just glad I got to show my striking this fight because I just wanted to prove to people I could bang with really tough strikers like Stephanie. I see this as a really big win.”
Mir, the daughter of two-time UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir, hasn’t fought since 2022 largely because she’s been focused on her wrestling career after starting out at the University of Iowa and then recently transferring to North Central College. She ended up in second place at the NCAA Wrestling Championships this past season with her sights set on claiming a title as she begins her senior year in the fall.
With plans to go for the 2028 Olympic games in Los Angeles, Mir previously told MMA Fighting that she’s keeping her primary focus on wrestling right now, although she definitely has designs on eventually joining the UFC roster. She was the first ever athlete the promotion sponsored through a name, image and likeness deal when Mir started college.
But due to her busy wrestling schedule while also mixing in some grappling matches as time allows, Mir admitted she may not get the chance to fight again until 2026.
“Maybe next year, we’ll go back at it again,” Mir said. “This was fun. I can’t wait.”
The win moved Mir to 4-0 in her professional fighting career with all of her wins coming via submission.
