Gamescom 2025 is widely considered the biggest gaming convention in the world, and while there’s a lot of focus on the wider gaming industry, esports is set to play a big part at this year’s event.

This year’s event will see esports featured in a dedicated arena, in addition to several franchises with esports circuits unveiling their latest instalments.

Ahead of the event, Esports Insider takes a closer look at what esports fans can expect from Gamescom 2025.

For 2025, Gamescom will see the debut of the Pro Arena, a hub for tournaments and community activations taking place at the convention. Operated by Freaks 4U Gaming, the 2,500-metre-square arena will feature a range of exhibitors along with the finals of the Equal Esports Cup for League of Legends.

Alongside League of Legends, the Pro Arena will see players compete in the Magenta eTrophy for Fortnite. Both tournaments will be hosted by German esports organisation SK Gaming, the Gamescom 2025 Pro Arena’s main partner.

In addition to the Pro Arena hosting esports tournaments, it will also feature ‘leading brands with exclusive activations’ for fans in attendance to experience. The likes of Alienware has already confirmed its presence at the event, showcasing its range of PC gaming peripherals.

Finally, fans can expect a wealth of new titles being revealed as part of the Opening Night Live broadcast, which features Eefje ‘sjokz’ Depoortere on hosting duties.

The broadcast will feature Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 in action for the first time, giving fans a closer look at new mechanics and how they could impact the upcoming season of the Call of Duty League (CDL).
