Catena Media’s financial results for the second quarter of 2025 showed a mix of early success from its new optimisation measures and ongoing challenges.
Founded in 20212, the performance marketing company focuses on increasing traffic and conversions for sports betting and online gambling platforms in major regulated markets, particularly in North America.
Catena Media’s revenue from continuing operations for the April–June 2025 period was €9.6m (~£8.2m), a 25% year-over-year decline but only a slight 2% decline from Q1. Revenue increased by 6% from quarter to quarter when currency fluctuations brought on by a declining US dollar were taken into account.
With adjusted EBITDA more than doubling to €1.4m (~£1.2m), a 104% increase, and the adjusted EBITDA margin rising to 14% from 5% the year before, the organisation’s ongoing efforts to restructure are beginning to pay off.
Key Divestment to Refocus Core Business
Catena Media sold off its esports-related assets (esports.net and esportsbet.com) to an industry buyer in Q2 2025, which resulted in a gain of €1.4m (~£1.2m).
As a calculated move to focus resources on the company’s core business lines, this divestment is expected to improve operational flexibility.
Catena Media’s CEO Manuel Stan, stated: “Q2 brought signs that our stabilisation efforts are having a measurable impact. Although we remain cautious in our outlook, it is encouraging to report our strongest quarter-on-quarter performance for Q2 for several years – driven by underlying business improvements rather than state launches or seasonal tailwinds.”
Going forward, Catena Media is clearly focused on streamlining operations and concentrating more intently on its core performance marketing products. The path for upcoming quarters looks strategically aligned toward sustainable, profitable growth, as evidenced by the financial benefits that were evident in Q2 from the proceeds from asset sales and cost optimisation measures.
