Indian esports and gaming company NODWIN Gaming has announced the return of the Battlegrounds Mobile India Masters Series (BGMS) for Season 4, backed by the support of OnePlus and Android.

Running until September 14th, the competition will see the top 28 teams compete for a share of the INR 1.5 crore (~£126,912) total prize pool.

The BGMS Season 4 is currently airing live on national television channels Star Sports Khel and on JioHotstar, as well as on NODWIN Gaming’s YouTube channel.

In its first phase, the 24 invited teams will be playing four matches each day across 21 days. The top four teams with the most amount of points will qualify directly for the Grand Finals, with fifth to twelfth advancing to the semi-finals.

The rest, instead, will be placed in the first phase of the playoff stage where they will be joined by the top four teams from the Battlegrounds Mobile India Challenger Series (BGCS), the amateur feeder league, the latest addition to this season’s competition.

Featuring a total of 24 participating teams, including four all-women rosters, the tournament opens a direct pathway for amateurs to the professional scene.

BGMS and the Growing Indian Esports Market

Since its return to the Indian market in May 2023, Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) has remained one of the region’s most popular esports titles.

Aside from OnePlus and Android joining as official smartphone partner and co-title sponsor respectively, BGMS counts on the support of other partners, including TVS Raider, Duolingo, Swiggy, Red Bull, and Bisleri.

Akshat Rathee, Co-Founder and Managing Director of NODWIN Gaming, commented: “BGMS has grown into the marquee esports tournament of India and is now a cultural movement that reflects the passion, energy, and limitless potential of our gaming community. Season 4 takes this vision further by championing inclusivity at every level, from campus qualifiers and grassroots challengers to professional athletes and all-women teams on national television.”

Recently, NODWIN has been making key moves in the ecosystem, becoming the majority shareholder of fighting game tournament Evo after acquiring Sony Interactive Entertainment’s stake for an undisclosed amount.
