BLAST has announced that the fifth edition of its BLAST Slam Dota 2 circuit will take place in Chengdu, China.

The event forms part of the tournament organiser’s three-year partnership with the Chengdu Television and Media Company.

Taking place from December 5th to 7th, BLAST Dota Slam Chengdu marks the organiser’s first arena-based esports event in mainland China. The country joins the likes of London, Austin, and Singapore as cities that have hosted BLAST-operated events this year.

The event will see 12 teams competing for a share of a $1m (~£740,488) prize pool in the final BLAST Slam event of the year. Tundra Esports, HEROIC, Team Spirit, Team FalconsParivision, and Team Liquid are the first teams to receive direct invitations.

“We are incredibly proud to bring BLAST’s first-ever event in mainland China to Chengdu, a city with rich culture, cutting-edge infrastructure, a history of live entertainment and a growing reputation for gaming and esports,” said James Wollard, Director of Market Development at BLAST.

“Partnering with Chengdu Television and Media Company allows us to combine our global competitive entertainment pedigree with trusted local expertise to deliver something truly special.”

Chengdu is no stranger to the world of esports. This year, the city will host the League of Legends World Championship Final on November 9th. Meanwhile, ESL FACEIT Group will host an Intel Extreme Masters (IEM) Counter-Strike 2 event running from November 7th to 9th.

BLAST’s Worldwide Expansion

Throughout 2025, BLAST has cemented its place as one of the world’s largest esports tournament organisers by expanding into several new markets.

In August, it signed a multi-year event deal with the Singapore Tourism Board, building on its expansion into the United States in May. As a result of the expansion, BLAST is set to host several events spanning multiple titles across Europe, the Americas, and Asia.
