16-year-old Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) player Liam ‘MaiL09‘ Tügel is on track to become the youngest FACEIT champion in the history of the platform.

On September 2nd, 2025, the Metizport rifler climbed to the top of the global leaderboards with an ELO rating of 4,860.

MaiL09 is widely regarded as a Counter-Strike prodigy, having represented the likes of GODSENT and Johnny Speeds in several regional competitions.

In June, the player was part of the roster that achieved victory at Svenska Elitserien Spring 2025, cementing his name as one of Sweden’s most exciting young talents.

The player has played over 3,500 FACEIT matches, earning a win rate of 57% to secure the top spot on the platform’s global leaderboard, which features several professional players, including Team Spirit rifler Ivan ‘zweih‘ Gogin.

According to a FACEIT social media post, MaiL09 is set to become the platform’s youngest-ever champion if he can maintain his position at the top of the leaderboard until the end of the current season.

If he manages to achieve the feat, the player will break the record currently held by Danil ‘Donk’ Kryshkovets, who topped the Season 5 leaderboards with an ELO total of 5,283 to beat the likes of Maksim ‘kyousuke‘ and Ilya ‘m0NESY‘ Osipov.

What Next For MaiL09?

While he’s not topping the FACEIT leaderboards, MaiL09 continues to compete in several online and offline CS2 tournaments under the Metizport banner.

Currently ranked 79th in the Valve Regional Standings (VRS), the team faces an upward climb to earn a place in the top 32 and qualify for November’s StarLadder Budapest Major. The Norwegian organisation previously competed at the BLAST.tv Austin Major, scoring a top-32 placement after being eliminated in Stage 1.

Metizport is set to compete in several Tier 2 events throughout September, starting with European Pro League Season 2 on the 6th and the second cup of ESL Challenger League Season 50, beginning on the 8th.
