The FNCS 2025 Global Championship has concluded with Egor ‘SwizzY‘ Luciko, Aleksa ‘Queasy‘ Cvetkovic, and Andrejs ‘Merstach‘ Piratovs becoming this year’s world champions.
After outperforming 32 other Fortnite teams over the weekend in France, the Gentle Mates and Twisted Minds trio took home the grand prize of $450,000 (~£355,0000).
The Grand Finals event in Lyon-Décines, France, took place across 12 games from September 6th to 7th, 2025 and featured a total of 99 qualified players.
How The Trio Won the Grand Finals
SwizzY (Gentle Mates), Merstach (Gentle Mates) and Queasy (Twisted Minds) showcased strong performances at the beginning of the grand finals, placing first in games two to four, with 16 eliminations secured in game three. The following three games would see the trio’s momentum slow down, but they managed to survive and remain among the top 10 teams each time.
However, the team began to struggle from game nine onwards, being unable to finish higher than 11th. Despite struggling in the last few games, the team was able to accumulate 697 points in total, securing first place and the World Champions title.
The trio’s victory was a surprise result considering how the team qualified by placing fifth in the FNCS 2025 Major 2 Europe Grand Finals. The result shocked fans tuning into the stream as the trio outperformed well-known esports personalities such as Clix (placed 18th).
It is also a huge achievement for the players compared to their performances in the 2024 Global Championship. Swizzy himself placed 10th with his duo Aleksy ‘Japko’ Jablonsk, while Queasy was the runner-up with Thomas ‘Th0masHD‘ Davidsen. Furthermore, Merstach placed 32nd in last year’s tournament.
By comparison, teams featuring last year’s winners, Peter ‘Peterbot‘ Kata and Miguel ‘Pollo‘ Moreno, placed 15th and 16th, respectively.
FNCS Global Championship 2025 Sees Viewership Success
The trio weren’t the only winners at this event. According to Esports Charts, the FNCS 2025 Global Championship reached a peak viewership of 954,473 users, becoming the most popular Fortnite esports event since 2019’s World Cup Finals.
Other highlights include an average viewership of 690,831 users, with over 7.5m hours watched by viewers across an airtime of nearly 11 hours. Game 12 of the FNCS 2025 Global Championship has become the most popular Fornite series of the year in terms of peak viewership.
