Citadel Gaming has announced the signing of Mid Season Finals winner, Adam ‘Meliø‘ Jensen, to its Marvel Rivals roster ahead of Ignite Stage 2.
The player comes from Team1, a roster that played for Rad EU to become the first international champions for Marvel Rivals earlier this year.
In response to the announcement online, Meliø said: “I know there will be interest in why I made this move. I’m proud of what we achieved with RAD, but the combination of me and this team together has super high potential, and I am excited to explore that.”
Meliø joins Citadel Gaming as its fourth Duelist, bringing the organisation’s active roster to eight players. The player has historically shown to be skilful with heroes such as Psylocke, Phoenix and Hela.
The Citadel Gaming and Team1 Rivalry
Meliø’s announcement has surprised some fans, considering the growing competitive rivalry between Citadel Gaming and Meliø’s former roster. The two teams clashed on several occasions in past esports events, including Ignite Stage 1 where Citadel Gaming, competing as Brr Brr Patapim at the time, defeated Rad EU in the Grand Finals to become EMEA champions.
While Meliø has found a new home within Marvel Rivals, the Mid Season Finals champion roster is still in search of an organisation to sign with.
There is also anticipation surrounding a potential showdown between Citadel Gaming and Team1 during Ignite Stage 2, where Meliø may play against his former teammates.
Teams Prepare For Ignite Stage 2
Citadel Gaming’s signing of Meliø has become the latest roster change in the esports scene, where rosters across the world are restructuring their Marvel Rivals teams ahead of Stage 2.
While Citadel Gaming is welcoming new players, organisations such as Americas Stage 1 champions, Sentinels, have parted ways with three of its members. In other regions, Ignite Stage 1 runners-up, Gen.G Esports, let go of four players from its active roster.
