TL;DR

  • The Overwatch 2 x Persona 5 collaboration officially dropped on September 16, 2025.
  • The collab includes five skins, with heroes Wuyang, Genji, Mercy, Lifeweaver and D.Va receiving them.
  • Other cosmetics are also included in the crossover, such as highlight intros, voice lines and name cards.
  • A Morgana spray, weapon charm, player icon and name card can be unlocked for free by completing in-game challenges.

The Overwatch 2 x Persona 5 collaboration has officially dropped in Overwatch 2, and it features new Legendary skins based on five of the main heroes from Persona 5. The collab has been highly anticipated since it was teased during the trailer for Overwatch 2 season 18.

We’re going to be looking more closely at the skins and other cosmetics in the collaboration to see how they hold up and whether they are worth the asking price.

Persona 5 x Overwatch 2

As mentioned, we only got a quick glimpse of a teaser for this collaboration at the very end of the Overwatch 2 season 18 trailer. It didn’t give anything anyway, so fans were left to speculate on which heroes would get skins for which Persona 5 characters.

We did a bit of speculation ourselves, and we didn’t do too badly in terms of guessing the heroes who would get skins. The characters they received skins for weren’t as well-matched on our end, though. Here are our guesses versus the actual skins and characters in the Overwatch 2 Persona 5 collaboration.

Persona 5 character skin Our guess Hero who received the skin
Ren Amamiya (Protagonist) / Joker Cassidy, Soldier: 76 or Kiriko Wuyang
Ryuji Sakamoto / Skull Junkrat or Wuyang Genji
Ann Takamaki / Panther:  Widowmaker or Mercy Mercy
Yusuke Kitagawa / Fox Genji Lifeweaver
Makoto Nijima / Queen: Tracer or Symmetra Tracer or Symmetra D.Va

To be fair, Lifeweaver and D.Va also made it onto our list of potential heroes to get Persona 5 skins, but we incorrectly guessed that D.Va could be Futaba and Lifeweaver would be Akechi.

While the adorable cat-like Persona 5 critter, Morgana, did not receive a skin, a player icon, spray, name card and weapon charm of Morgana can be unlocked during the event by completing specific challenges. A “Phantom Thief” title can also be unlocked by doing the challenges.

Let’s recap the characters and the skins that they received in the Overwatch 2 x Persona 5 crossover.

  • Skull: Genji
  • Panther: Mercy
  • Fox: Lifeweaver

Despite not being entirely as expected, these are pretty solid hero choices, allowing some of the newer heroes to get a turn in the spotlight and avoiding overused heroes who are always getting Legendary skins, such as Kiriko and Juno.

It’s surprising to see the newest hero, Wuyang, get the primary skin in the collab, as new heroes don’t always get much attention skin-wise. Genji as Skull seems like an odd choice at first, seeing as Fox wields a blade similar to Genji’s. However, from a character design and personality point of view, Genji does fit the role of Skull much better than Fox. Genji’s blade is transformed into Skull’s blunt weapon with this skin. The slicing sound effects are also turned into a dull thump, which is a nice detail.

Mercy as Panther is understandable, as we mentioned in our speculative article. Her personality is more in line with Ann than Widowmaker would be, and she has also rocked the blonde pigtail look before, so it makes sense. Lifeweaver was our pick for Akechi, but Fox is pretty perfect for him, too. In Persona 5, Yusuke is very much a tortured artist and a hopeless romantic, and Lifeweaver’s effortless charm suits this persona much better than Genji would.

D.Va might have seemed like a good pick for Futaba, but Queen’s overachieving nature and tough exterior are also well-suited to her. As well as wearing Queen’s leather biker style outfit, D.Va’s mech also gets a makeover to look like Queen’s motorcycle, which is a manifestation of her Persona Johanna. It is designed excellently, and even has the creepy face that Queen’s bike has.

These are all the skins involved in the Persona 5 x Overwatch 2 collaboration. Some fans will probably be disappointed if their favourite Persona 5 hero didn’t receive a skin, but it’s understandable why these five were picked, as they are the first five Phantom Thieves unlocked in the game.

That being said, the five skins included are excellently designed and well-detailed. From the heroes getting pink footsteps effect when they are in their Persona skins (the characters in Persona 5 have this when they are in a palace or in Mementos), to various sound changes, the Persona 5 skins have clearly had a lot of thought put into them, and the end product is a great cosmetic-based video game collaboration.

The Phantom Thieves bundle is the most expensive bundle, as it includes all the cosmetics in the collaboration. The 6,900-coin price tag equates to around $60, which is a hefty price if you don’t have any Overwatch Coins saved up. This bundle is likely only worth it if you are a big fan of Persona 5 and if you use the heroes involved in the collaboration. Otherwise, it would be better to grab one of the single bundles.

Each single bundle costs 2,800 Overwatch Coins, which is around $30. If you are interested in one of the hero skins included in the Persona 5 collaboration, but don’t want to fork out $60, then opt for one of the single bundles.

That’s everything you need to know about the skins included in the Persona 5 Overwatch 2 collaboration. The skins are definitely worth it for fans of Persona 5, especially those who use the heroes who have received skins. However, the expensive asking price for the mega bundle means that it’s only really worth it for fans who not only love Persona 5 but who will also make the most out of each of the five skins.
