Ukrainian football club FC Dynamo Kyiv will face esports powerhouse Natus Vincere (NAVI) in an unprecedented Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) show match as part of GG.BET’s Match of LeGGends event.
Talent from both clubs will come together for a series of creative, mixed-format competitions targeting both football and gaming fans at the event, which will take place online on September 23rd.
As part of the event, professional CS2 players from NAVI and football players from Dynamo Kyiv first compete against each other in classic and arms-race Counter-Strike maps. In the grand finale, teams DYNAVI and NAVIDY will mix up their squads.
Goalie Denys Boyko, football-focused hosts from ‘Lions on a Jeep’, and casters Vitalii ‘v1lat‘ Volochai and Mykhailo ‘Olsior‘ Zvieriev will all cast and host the competition.
Cross-Disciplinary Collaboration and Broader Engagement
After previous iterations featured well-known squads like Team Vitality and NAVI, GG.BET’s Match of LeGGends series carries on the tradition of combining prominent figures into a single event.
A warm-up featuring professional gamers and football players, a fast-paced ‘arms race’ format where each player competes alone, and a final classic map where teammates are moved between clubs for added entertainment and unpredictability are all included in the show match.
Interestingly, GG.BET recently became FC Dynamo Kyiv’s first title sponsor as the company aims to highlight the universal appeal of competition, skill, and showmanship while also erasing the lines between sports and esports fandoms.
The popularity and reach of these hybrid spectator events are demonstrated by the fact that previous GG.BET show matches have attracted impressive viewership numbers.
The Match of LeGGends format exemplifies how crossover collaborations can create buzz, scale audiences, and reinvent sports entertainment for fans in Ukraine and beyond.
