Gaming and web3 studio ChaosGround has acquired the assets of former esports tournament platform Epulze after it went bankrupt in early 2025.

As a result of the deal, ChaosGround has merged the assets into its existing verticals, bridging the gap between esports and web3 gaming.

Launched in 2015, Epulze became a notable esports tournament platform, amassing approximately one million registered users. The platform was used to host various high-profile online events, including qualifiers for Dota 2 Pro Circuit (DPC) tournaments.

According to a release, ChaosGround will use the assets acquired to continue creating ‘a self-sustained ecosystem that bridges esports and web3 gaming.’

In addition to hosting tournaments, the platform will also support game developers through user acquisition campaigns and the creation of new token economies.

“We see this as more than an acquisition; it’s the rebirth of grassroots esports with web3 superpowers,” said Keerthan Shetty, CEO of ChaosGround.

“By bringing Epulze’s proven infrastructure into our ecosystem, we are closing the retention gap in web3 while giving players everywhere new opportunities to compete, connect, and be rewarded.”

The ChaosGround.gg platform will integrate various web3 features into its esports tournaments, including token-based rewards and smart contract-backed prize pools. ChaosGround noted that the platform’s global launch will take place ‘in the coming months’, and will be combined with GroundZero, its user acquisition engine.

Web3 And Esports

The web3 gaming sector has continued to expand its presence within the world of esports.

In August, Miomi Game integrated with the Polygon network, enabling players to earn prizes in the AUSD stablecoin. The platform has over 950,000 registered users and hosts tournaments in Counter-Strike, League of Legends, and EA Sports FC featuring crypto rewards as prizes.

With the launch of the ChaosGround esports platform, hosting tournaments involving web3 titles and blockchain rewards is continuing to gain traction.
