The latest Counter-Strike 2 (CS2) update has introduced two new maps to the game’s Competitive mode.
The Golden and Palacio maps have been added to CS2’s Competitive, Casual, and Deathmatch game modes, while Rooftop and Transit have arrived in the title’s 2v2 Wingman mode.
Alongside the arrival of new maps, the October 2nd, 2025, update has added an ‘inaccuracy representation’ in sniper scopes.
As a result of new maps arriving, Jura, Grail, Dogtown, and Brewery have been removed from all game modes.
In addition to new maps, Valve has released 22 new weapon charms and the 2025 Community Stickers collection featuring 29 stickers created by community artists. Stickers are available for players to purchase from the in-game store.
The update also features several gameplay changes, including an inaccuracy representation in sniper scopes. When players zoom in with weapons such as the AWP, an opaque circle will appear in the centre of the crosshair. For those who aren’t fans of the new addition, the feature can be disabled within the in-game options.
October 2nd’s update is the first of the month for CS2, which received three updates in the final week of September to address weapon spray patterns and various clipping issues.
Community Reaction
The addition of new maps into the rotation has the potential to shake up the Active Duty pool if Valve deems them appropriate for use in Premier and esports tournaments.
However, the reaction of fans continues to show the high demand for Cache to return. “We need Cache, we need anti-cheat, we need overwatch, we need operation,” commented one fan.
Following the update’s release, players are also reporting inconsistencies with CS2’s movement mechanics, an issue that continues to arise following the arrival of new changes.
