The World Solitaire Championship, a newly announced competition for the classic card game, was recently unveiled, with its inaugural event scheduled for February 2026 in Miami, Florida.

The event will see the top 400 finalists play on Solitaire Cash, made by mobile gaming developer Papaya, for the title of World Solitaire Champion. The winner will receive a lion’s share of its $300,000 (~£222,540) prize pool.

Solitaire Cash is a mobile game that emulates the real-life card game. The title, which is currently ranked 5th on the Apple Store for Casino games, features both regular and cash tournaments. Rankings are determined by how fast a player clears the board or gets as close as possible. As such, only players aged 18 or above, who are at least level eight or higher, are eligible to join. Further terms and conditions are detailed on the official World Solitaire Championship webpage.

The championship adopts the same format for an LAN event, with players competing on the global stage through the app.

Qualifications for the crowning event will run from November 3rd to 23rd, 2025 through the Solitaire Cash app. Players can improve their standings by participating in in-game tournaments.

What To Expect From The Championship

Papaya revealed that the championship will be produced by Estars Studios and Executive Producer David Lee, with the event taking place at the Temple House Miami venue.

The invited players will also experience an all-expenses-paid weekend at Fountainebleau for hospitality, entertainment and fan interactions.

“We believe play has the power to create meaningful connections that go far beyond the screen,” says Oriel Bachar, Co-Founder and CEO of Papaya. “Our vision is to bring people together through competition, community, and shared experiences, and the World Solitaire Championship is another step in making that vision a reality.”

The winner of the tournament will not only make history for the mobile card game as the first-ever champion, but also take home $150,000 (£111,270) in winnings.

Papaya is a game developer that has built a portfolio of titles, aiming to bring traditional skill games to mobile devices, creating titles such as Bingo Cash and Bubble Cash. It is a developer that hosts regular in-game tournaments, and has attracted over 37m+ downloads globally across its apps.
