Tournament organiser ESL FACEIT Group has announced that it will hold a cross-regional Overwatch 2 tournament called FACEIT League Masters Showdown.
The Overwatch Champions Series (OWCS) grassroots competitive event will see the top two master division teams from the North America and EMEA regions face off during FACEIT League Season 6.
The Masters Showdown will hold the Semi-Finals on November 8th, with the Grand Finals commencing on November 27th during the OWCS World Finals in DreamHack Stockholm.
The first- and second-place teams from both North America and EMEA in Season 6 Playoffs will compete in a BO5 online series. The Semi-finals will be community cast, and the Finals will be recorded and premiered at DreamHack Stockholm.
On top of the exposure at the OWCS event, the winning team will also receive medals for their achievement.
According to the official blog post, the change was introduced because FACEIT League Season 6 was confirmed not to be a direct qualifier for OWCS. It did state that the connection would be re-established in Season 7, and that the showdown would be exclusive to the Season 6 master division teams.
What to Expect at OWCS World Finals and DreamHack
The OWCS World Finals is the most prestigious tournament in the Overwatch 2 esports scene, serving as the crowning event of the season.
Fans can watch the top 12 teams from OWCS Stage 3 compete in the Stockholmsmässan venue in Stockholm, Sweden. The teams come from across five regions: EMEA, North America, Korea, China and Asia.
DreamHack Stockholm tickets are available through the official website, with various tiers available offering add-ons for the OWCS World Finals. DreamHack Stockholm will also feature other top esports events, including the inaugural Major for The Finals and an ESL Pro League Season 23 qualifier called DreamHack Knockout.
For those who cannot attend the event in person, co-streams will be enabled for watch parties, with specific details regarding co-streaming policies to be shared soon.
