Abilities

Veto has access to four unique abilities, including a power that lets him cross the map in an instant. The Chokehold ability can trap and deafen your opponent during battle, while the Interceptor destroys enemy utilities. As Veto’s final stand, Evolution can be activated to become immune to debuffs.

Chokehold Equip a viscous fragment of your mutation. Fire to throw. The fragment deploys upon impact, creating a trap to hold enemies in place. Held enemies are deafened and decayed. Enemies can destroy the trap before activation.
Crosscut Equip a vortex. Fire to place on the ground. While in range and looking at the vortex, reactivate to teleport to the vortex. During the buy phase, the vortex can be reclaimed to be redeployed.
Interceptor Equip the Interceptor. Fire to place the Interceptor at projected location. Once placed, reuse to activate. Once active, it will destroy any utility that would bounce off a player and/or be destroyed naturally by gunfire. Enemies can destroy the Interceptor.

Veto in VALORANT: Meta impact

Veto is an interesting VALORANT agent because his special abilities are all very different. One ability lets him teleport, which is helpful while pushing, while his Chokehold power is great for trapping opponents out in the open.

We expect Veto to be a very popular sentinel agent, especially in the first few weeks following his introduction. Veto’s main draw, the Interceptor ability, will be an essential tool in countering characters that have strong utility powers. As such, every team will need to adapt to Veto’s skill set.

Veto’s Interceptor is an incredibly strong ability, as it can destroy enemy utility and disrupt your opponent’s battle plan. Players will have to focus more on gunplay and less on utility to fight back against Veto, and some agents may even be left out of competitive rosters if they’re too easy for Veto to counter.

Luckily, Veto’s Interceptor can be destroyed with gunfire, so competitive players will need to keep an eye out for its appearance and sound in each match.

As Veto enters VALORANT, it’s clear that the competitive meta has never been so fierce. There are a plethora of agents fighting for the top spot as the strongest character, and Veto could soon be a top contender for the best sentinel in VALORANT.
