The first-ever VALORANT Mobile esports LAN event has concluded in China, with ACE PRIME CORE defeating EDward Gaming 3-1 in the finals to be crowned champions.

The tournament, called the Platform Finals, featured a prize pool of 300,000 CNY (~£31,340) and is part of VALORANT Mobile’s new national esports circuit in China.

The Platform Finals form one of the four pathways in the national circuit. These pathways will culminate in a National Finals at the end of the year and have a cumulative prize pool of $418,000 (~£309,000).

As part of the platforms pathway, major streaming platforms, namely Douyu, Huya, KuaiShou, Douyin, and Bilibili, hosted online tournaments. The top-performing teams from these qualified for the Platform Finals.

The Platform Finals took place at the Guangzhou Canton Tower Plaza in China in front of a live audience. Eight teams competed in a single-elimination bracket, with ACE PRIME CORE ultimately walking away victorious.

As a result, ACE PRIME CORE, along with runners-up EDward Gaming, have qualified for the National Finals.

The National Finals, scheduled for December, will be held at the Aranya Grand Masters, which is an international skateboarding competition.

The other pathways to this event include a national-level qualifier, a collegiate tournament, and one for corporations.

What’s Next For VALORANT Mobile?

Riot Games revealed earlier this year that it plans to invest 1.5bn RMB (~£150m) in the game over the next three years to grow VALORANT Mobile esports.

In fact, the Platform Finals featured some former Call of Duty Mobile players, according to Liquipedia Editor Hesketh, indicating the growth potential for the title. CODM is among the biggest competitors for VALORANT Mobile, not only in China, but globally.

VALORANT Mobile’s global release date has not yet been revealed. However, with the growing momentum for esports in China, Riot Games could push for esports from the get-go.
