Razer has teased the release of a new gaming controller in collaboration with French Call of Duty League (CDL) player Paco ‘HyDra‘ Rusiewiez.

The gaming peripherals brand has worked with the Los Angeles Thieves player during the Summer on a product, which is expected to be a controller for the PlayStation 5.

In a social media post from October 20th, Razer stated that the controller is ‘optimised for esports,’ teasing a sleek black design with paddles on the back of the controller for greater functionality across a range of titles.

The teaser follows another post from Razer, revealing HyDra has worked with the brand during the CDL’s off-season period to assist with development of the controller.

HyDra collaborating with Razer points towards a wider partnership between the brand and the Los Angeles Thieves. On October 15th, the franchise’s X account posted a silhouette of the controller that will be revealed on October 23rd.

While Razer is synonymous with its PC peripherals, the brand is no stranger to the custom console controller market. In 2021, it launched the Wolverine V2 Pro for use on PlayStation.

Further Collaborations

100 Thieves, the owner of the Los Angeles Thieves, is no stranger to working with Razer. In June, the two parties entered a multi-category partnership in a deal that saw Razer become the organisation’s official headset, controller, and chair partner.

Founded in 2017, 100 Thieves has cemented its place as one of the most recognisable esports organisations and lifestyle brands within the industry. In October, it launched a wave of limited-time apparel in collaboration with Pokémon.

For Razer, HyDra is the latest esports player that the company has collaborated with for the launch of new products.

To commemorate his fifth League of Legends World Championship victory in 2024, Lee ‘Faker‘ Sang-hyeok launched a co-branded mouse mat featuring a motif inspired by the player’s Unkillable Demon King nickname.
