Opera GX has launched a streaming mode to boost the privacy of content creators while they are broadcasting.
The gaming web browser’s dedicated profile features several privacy settings designed to give streamers complete control over what their audience sees.
Opera GX revealed that the profile was created based on feedback gathered by working with content creators to ‘understand the daily anxieties of streaming.’
Features of the new profile hide any suggested sites based on recent browser history in order to maintain the privacy of personal browsing habits and prevent any accidental leaks of sensitive information.
Streamers can also mute all browser tabs, stopping any unwanted audio from playing during a live broadcast.
To mark the launch of the Opera GX streaming profile, the browser has partnered with software company Streamlabs to offer users discounts on monthly and annual Streamlabs Ultra subscriptions.
Content creators can download the browser and utilise the streaming profile now by selecting it from the browser’s features menu.
Streaming has become one of the biggest aspects of the gaming and esports industries. According to a Stream Hatchet report, esports viewership increased by 6% across various platforms in Q2 2025.
Opera GX and Esports
In recent years, Opera GX has continued to expand its presence within the esports industry. In September 2024, it partnered with Riot Games to become its preferred browser partner for all international League of Legends tournaments.
More recently, the browser joined forces with geography guessing game title GeoGuessr, becoming the official browser of this year’s GeoGuessr World Championship.
The addition of a dedicated streaming profile will provide extra security to streamers wanting to keep their private information secure.
As a result of additional control over what viewers see during broadcasts, streamers no longer have to worry about any sensitive information appearing.
