TL;DR
- Your loadouts aren’t guaranteed in RedSec, you’ll have to earn them
- Assault and Engineer builds should focus on close-quarters combat
- Support is the most important, offering revives and ammo restocks
- Snipers will be used for surveillance and picking off long-distance enemies
The new battle royale mode, Battlefield RedSec, draws the franchise closer to Call of Duty with squad-based survival, destructive maps, and strategic gameplay. But unlike Warzone and Fortnite, you’re going to need to earn your loadout in each game.
We’ve gone over what we think are the Battlefield RedSec best loadouts for each playstyle below.
How do loadouts work in Battlefield RedSec?
Before you drop into Fort Lyndon, you’re going to want to have your personal loadout configured, which you will be able to unlock after completing in-game contracts and objectives.
If you’re unable to complete the objectives by the time the loadouts drop, you’re still going to be able to wrestle for the public loadout drops – but these will entail a free-for-all bloodbath with all the other unlucky players.
You can also acquire your favourite weapons through supply drops, meaning you’ll need to manually favourite these weapons in the main menu.
Realistic gun mechanics and combat are a trademark of the Battlefield franchise, and RedSec is no exception. There’s a points system for how you can use and equip attachments, meaning early on, you’re going to need to start focusing on mitigating the exposure of your firearms – suppressors and grips are going to be vital here.
However, as we get further into the BF6 season 1 roadmap, the meta in BF6 RedSec loadouts is likely to change.
Battlefield RedSec: Best builds and loadouts
We’re going to be suggesting what we think are the Battlefield RedSec best builds for each of the four different classes, and how each one can be tailored for unique playstyles.
Battlefield RedSec: Best Assault build

| Primary | Kord 6P67 |
| Scope | OSA-7 1x |
| Muzzle | Suppressor |
| Barrel | Light Barrel |
| Underbarrel | Full Angled Grip |
| Ammunition | Polymer Case Lightweight |
| Magazine | 45 Round Fast Mag |
| Secondary | M45A1 |
| Muzzle | CQB Suppressor |
| Barrel | 5-inch Pencil |
| Gadget 1 | SVK-8.6 |
| Gadget 2 | M320A1 HE |
| Throwable | Stun Grenade |
| Melee | Hunting Knife |
This Assault build is heavily tailored towards close-quarters combat, with the suppressor on both firearms keeping you silent and your location hidden. You’ll be a force to be reckoned with indoors, with both allowing you to quietly rip into enemies, but in outdoor and exposed environments, you can be vulnerable. To counteract that, we’d suggest equipping an SVK-8.6 as one of your gadgets, giving you control over both close and long-distance combat.
For your second gadget, we’d suggest choosing the M320A1 HE, which is a lethal and destructive grenade launcher. Since you have a grenade launcher, it’s best you choose a throwable with stun, and then to complete the high-mobility, silent playstyle, you can opt for the Hunting Knife which grants enhanced movement speed.
Battlefield RedSec: Best Engineer build

| Primary | QBZ-192 |
| Scope | Sight 2x |
| Muzzle | Suppressor |
| Barrel | 14.5 Inch Extended Barrel |
| Underbarrel | Classic Grip Pod |
| Ammunition | Standard |
| Magazine | 40 Round Mag |
| Secondary | M45A1 |
| Muzzle | CQB Suppressor |
| Barrel | 5-Inch Pencil |
| Gadget 1 | RPG-7V2 |
| Gadget 2 | AV Mine |
| Throwable | AV Grenade |
| Melee | Sledgehammer |
For your Engineer build, we’d recommend a similar approach to Assault with a loadout that covers both close and long-range combat. The QBZ-192 offers this with competency in both, though a bit more of an emphasis on mid-range. We’d recommend the same pistol, too.
With the gadgets, though, Engineer takes a very different path. Most of the gadgets and tools are suited for the end-game, when opponents have unlocked vehicles, and that’s where the RPG, AV Mine and AV Grenades come in. The Sledgehammer is then going to be used in the mid-game for quiet building destruction and one-hit melee kills.
Battlefield RedSec: Best Support build

| Primary | RPKM |
| Muzzle | Compensated Brake |
| Barrel | 590mm Factory |
| Underbarrel | Bipod |
| Ammunition | Lightweight |
| Magazine | 75 Round Drum |
| Secondary | M44 |
| Muzzle | Extended |
| Barrel | Hollow Point |
| Gadget 1 | Defibrillators |
| Gadget 2 | Supply Pouch |
| Throwable | Smoke Grenade |
| Melee | Sledgehammer |
The RPKM, a Signature Weapon for Support classes, has a relatively low rate of fire and magazine capacity for an LMG, but it makes up for it in precision and control, which is what this gun is all about. Since you won’t really be relying on your sidearm too much, we’re going to recommend the M44, which will quickly get you out of a pinch if you do expend all of your ammo.
For gadgets, we’re going full support with the defibs and supply pouches, and you’ll be the most important combatant in your squad with these. Smoke grenades can be used to slow down combat and create cover for your squadron.
Battlefield RedSec: Best Recon build

| Primary | SV-98 |
| Muzzle | Suppressor |
| Barrel | Light Fluted |
| Underbarrel | Grip Pod |
| Ammunition | Long-Range |
| Secondary | ES 5.7 |
| Muzzle | Suppressor |
| Gadget 1 | C4 |
| Gadget 2 | Recon Drone |
| Throwable | Proximity Detector |
| Melee | Hunting Knife |
This Recon build makes use of the SV-98, which is personally my favourite sniper in the game so far. It offers the best compromise between damage, rate of fire, and mobility, while the suppressor, grip-pod and long-range ammunition mitigate many of the side-effects of a sniper.
To counteract a sniper’s limited combat style, we recommend the ES 5.7 for its mobility and automatic firing style. As always, it will be equipped with a suppressor.
C4 is a vital part of this build, allowing you to destroy buildings and enemy vehicles while also causing distractions for enemy players. The recon drone then lets you spy on them, alongside the proximity detector.
Conclusion
Despite the existence of vehicles, most aren’t attainable until late-game, so most of the focus is on ground combat. Unlike ordinary gameplay, the BF6 battle royale mode will generally require players to focus on a streamlined playstyle, tailored towards slower action and quieter, clandestine strategy.
RedSec also marks the launch of Battlefield 6 season 1, the beginning of the game’s live-service structure. The new battle royale mode will become a vital part of that, and it’s likely to see some heavy updates in the near future.
