League of Legends has been a behemoth in the MOBA genre since it was released way back in 2009. With this staggering success, it’s no surprise that there are plenty of events in LoL to keep players coming back for more, including seasonal-themed events.

The annual Halloween event in League of Legends was called The Harrowing, but it isn’t as prominent as it used to be. The mode ran from 2010 to 2016. Riot Games then decided to rebrand The Harrowing to Tales from the Rift, focusing mostly on the cosmetic elements. 

New lines of spooky-themed skin sets have been released since The Harrowing ended, such as the Fright Night collection and the Bewitching collection. Some of the best LoL Halloween skins are also Harrowing skins that were released when the event was still active. The visual effects are particularly fun with this Amumu skin, especially the inverted colour effect that makes his pumpkin head look a little more frightening.

Elise is a champion who is pretty spooky in general due to her spider transformation, but her Bewitching skin ups the ante even more. Elise dons a witch outfit while in her human form, but she also gets to keep her witch’s hat and purple and pink colour palette while in her spider form. Elise’s spiderlings are turned into little pumpkins with spider legs with this skin, too, which makes for some surprisingly cute yet spooky companions.

Brand is turned into a green zombie with pieces of flesh missing and exposed bone. It’s standard zombie fare, but it works. The animations with this skin are flawless, as Brand becomes a fully fledged zombie who shambles around the map. He also uses his toxic acid like green fire to attack enemies. 

Zombie Brand is an iconic spooky LoL skin that is still one of the best despite lacking the extra elements of the newer skins (although it did have an update in 2024). It’s one of the OG Legendary Halloween skins, and it remains firmly as the best in the game.
