Alpha Gaming player Ge ‘Huanmie’ Wuxin has won the Teamfight Tactics Paris Open, the game’s biggest esports event of the year.

Featuring a total of 768 competitors, an increase over last year’s 512 tally at the TFT Macao Open, Huanmie secured the trophy in the fifth game of the finals lobby.

Utilising a ‘Checkmate’ format, the eight finalists vied to gain a total of 20 points to place the lobby in ‘check’. The player then needed to win a game in the lobby to be crowned champion. Interestingly, four players all placed the lobby in check on game four, meaning that game five could have been won by half of the lobby.

These players included Lin ‘XiaoLiLuo’ Wenjie, KOI’s Marc ‘Safo20’ Safont and Flash Wolves’ Chen ‘Haruru’ Ying-han. Neither XiaoLiLuo nor Safo20 had ever competed in a major TFT international event prior. Meanwhile, Haruru placed in the top eight of this year’s TFT Esports World Cup and 15th in the 2024 Teamfight Tactics Macao Open.

Huanmie Tops the Table

In the end, it was Huanmie who walked out victorious, securing the win in game five with a Void composition and adding a second international trophy to his list of accolades. Currently playing for Alpha Gaming, the Chinese player has competed in various TFT esports events since 2021. Notably, the player won the 2021 Reckoning Championship, becoming the first Chinese player to secure an S-tier TFT esports trophy.

Throughout his career, the player has competed in eight international tournaments. This included placing 3rd in 2022’s Dragonlands Championship and 3rd/4th in the Eports World Cup 2024

Speaking about his victory, Huanmie said: “I’m super excited and happy right now. I really appreciate the support, especially from the Chinese fans. The atmosphere at the TFT Paris Open was incredible. I hope I can make it to Vegas next year.”

Alongside the competition itself, fans who attended the event at the Paris Expo Porte de Versailles were also provided with a variety of community experiences. Notably, this included opportunities to play Riot Games’ new products, TCG Riftbound and Fighting Game 2XKO, the latter of which revealed Caitlyn as its latest playable character.

What is Next for TFT Esports?

With the TFT Paris Open now in the rear view mirror, eyes will quickly turn to 2026.

Riot Games has already announced that the next Teamfight Tactics Open event will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada, next year. This marks the return of the TFT Open to North America following its 2022 Las Vegas event, which was the game’s first large-scale Open tournament.

Before the Open event, Teamfight Tactics will once again be hosting its Tactician’s Crown esports events, which are associated with TFT’s latest sets. The next major event will be the Lore & Legends Tactician’s Crown competition, set to take place in March 2026.
