Ryan Garcia is back.

The controversial 26-year-old boxing star successfully made weight at Thursday’s official weigh-ins for the Fatal Fury: City of Wolves event that takes place outdoors at Times Square in New York on Friday. Garcia hit the contracted mark at 146.8 pounds, while opponent Rolly Romero weighed in at 146.6 pounds.

This is Garcia’s first fight since serving a one-year suspension for a failed drug test following a fight with rival Devin Haney in April 2024. Garcia missed weight for that contest, but went on to defeat Haney via majority decision in a 12-round thriller. However, due to the subsequent drug test violation, that result was overturned to a no-contest.

Haney competes in Friday’s main event opposite Jose Ramirez. Both men successfully made weight for the catchweight contest, with Haney coming in at 143 pounds and Ramirez at 143.8 pounds.

At the ceremonial weigh-ins on Thursday evening, Garcia and Romero had a short faceoff and issued perfunctory statements ahead of their bout on Friday. Haney, meanwhile, promised to “hurt” Ramirez and then come for Garcia next.

Also competing on Friday, WBO super lightweight champion Teofimo Lopez made weight (139.6) for his title defense against Arnold Barboza (139.8). At the ceremonial weigh-in on Thursday, Lopez donned a luchador mask and the two then shared an intense staredown for several minutes before finally being separated.
