Canelo Alvarez v William Scull: Fatal Fury - Fight Night

Canelo Alvarez didn’t make any new fans this weekend.

On Saturday, Alvarez faced off with William Scull for undisputed super middleweight status at The Venue in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. What followed was a historically bad fight, with Canelo attempting just 152 punches over 12 rounds and still winning a clear decision, in large part because Scull spend much of the fight circling endlessly and throwing ineffective jabs that Canelo blocked.

It was the latest in a string of disappointing performances from Alvarez, who has not scored a finish since 2021, and fans and boxing luminaries watching at home were none too pleased with another dud from “The Face of Boxing.”

There was one bright spot though: after the win, it was officially announced that Alvarez will face top pound-for-pound fighter Terence Crawford in a long-awaited superfight on Sep. 12 in Las Vegas.

Check out how some of the biggest names in boxing reacted to another underwhelming Canelo performance.
