Georges St-Pierre is the greatest welterweight of all time, and the longtime former UFC champ said he would be open to being a small part of the UFC 315 main event if his services are required.
“Rush” was part of the UFC 315 Fan Q&A on Friday in Montreal, Canada ahead of Saturday’s pay-per-view event — where he was joined on the panel by former UFC Canadian fighters Rory MacDonald, Valerie Letourneau, Patrick Cote, and David Loiseau — and was asked if he would be up for putting the 170-pound title belt around the waist of either Belal Muhammad or Jack Della Maddalena.
“Of course, if they want me to do it, I’ll do it,” St-Pierre said. “But on Saturday, I’ll work as a cornerman, and my priority is to be there for Aiemann Zahabi, and he has an incredible task ahead fighting Jose Aldo.
“If everything goes according to plan and we get the W and they want me to do it, why not? It would be an honor.”
St-Pierre is a two-time UFC welterweight champ, which includes a divisional record 10 straight title defenses before vacating the championship following his win over Johny Hendricks at UFC 167 in November 2013.
The popular fighter who headlined many pay-per-view events in Canada returned to the sport after a four-year hiatus, moving up to middleweight to become a two-division champ with a submission win over Michael Bisping at UFC 217 in November 2017.
