This is the UFC 315 live blog for Jose Aldo vs. Aiemann Zahabi, the main card featherweight bout Saturday at Bell Centre in Montreal.
Aldo (32-9) is currently No. 9 at 135 pounds in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings. This bout was changed from a bantamweight contest to featherweight on Friday due to weight-cutting issues on Aldo’s side.
The future UFC Hall of Famer has lost two of his past three fights, with those losses being unsatisfying decisions against Mario Bautista and future bantamweight champion Merab Dvalishvili. Aldo had previously won three straight fights to put himself on the cusp of another title opportunity before losing to Dvalishvili via a close decision.
Zahabi (12-2) has won five straight fights. After putting on an impressive performance to hand Javid Basharat his first loss, Zahabi defeated veteran Pedro Munhoz this past December in his most recent outing. A win Saturday guarantees Zahabi his highest number yet in the bantamweight rankings.
