Maycee Barber’s weight miss capped off a messy set of UFC Vegas 107 weigh-ins.
The flyweight contender came in over the limit for her bout with Erin Blanchfield, which closes out Saturday’s show at UFC APEX in Las Vegas. Barber registered at 126.5 pounds at Friday’s official weigh-ins, half a pound over, even including the one-pound allowance for a non-title fight. Blanchfield successfully weighed in at 125 pounds.
It is not yet known if Blanchfield vs. Barber will proceed at a catchweight, and if so, how much of Barber’s purse will be forfeited as penalty.
Saturday’s headliner was meant to be a showcase for two UFC championship hopefuls, with Blanchfield and Barber at No. 4 and No. 7 respectively in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings, but Barber’s miss could keep her out of the title picture regardless of the result.
One other fighter also missed weight, Allan Nascimento (127.5), who came in 1.5 pounds over the flyweight limit, and one bout cancellation was announced Friday morning with Trevin Giles pulling out of a 180-pound catchweight bout against Andreas Gustafsson due to injury.
Giles was coming in on less than a week’s notice as a replacement for Jeremiah Wells.
In the lightweight co-main event, top 10 ranked Mateusz Gamrot (156) and Ludovit Klein (156) both successfully made weight.
