Patchy Mix looked nothing like the bantamweight champion that ruled over the Bellator roster.
Mario Bautista put on a masterclass in his fight with Mix at UFC 316 on Saturday, dominating Mix for three rounds with sharp striking and footwork en route to a clear-cut unanimous decision win. It was a mystifying octagon debut for Mix, who failed to secure a single takedown or show much of his vaunted grappling game.
With the win, Bautista becomes just the second fighter to defeat Mix, who entered UFC 316 with a 20-1 record and plenty of hype behind him after departing PFL earlier this year. Bautista has won eight straight fights now and looks poised for a title shot in the near future, while Mix goes back to the drawing board following a disappointing performance.
