Bella Mir is off to a good start in UFC BJJ.
Mir, daughter of former UFC heavyweight champion Frank Mir, is a budding MMA fighter, collegiate wrestler, and professional grappler, and on Wednesday night, she made the move to the UFC, taking on Carol Joia at UFC BJJ 1. And Mir clearly picked up some of her fatherās grappling prowess as she was able to score a second-round submission win.
The first round saw Mir control most of the action with high pressure from top position and passes as Joia defended. Mir was able to lock in an arm-triangle choke at one point, creating the biggest threat of the round, but Joia was able to fight if off.
In the second round, Joia was able to threaten with a leg lock for a portion, but Mir defended and quickly jumped on a DāArce choke in the ensuing scramble. Joia did her best to escape but Mirās squeeze was simply too good, forcing the tap.
