This is the UFC 317 live blog for Beneil Dariush vs. Renato Moicano, the main card lightweight bout Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Dariush (22-6-1) looks to bounce back from a knockout loss to Arman Tsarukyan, his second straight defeat. Prior to this slump, Dariush had won eight straight fights to put himself on the cusp of title contention. He holds notable wins over Mateusz Gamrot, Tony Ferguson, Diego Ferreira, Drakkar Klose, Jim Miller, and Drew Dober, among others. He is currently ranked No. 9 (tied with Gamrot) in the MMA Fighting Global Rankings.
The Dariush vs. Moicano matchup was originally scheduled to take place at UFC 311 in January. However, the No. 14-ranked Moicano (20-6-1) was called up to replace an injured Tsarukyan to face lightweight champion Islam Makhachev in a last-second title challenge. Makhachev defeated Moicano by first-round submission, snapping Moicanoâs four-fight win streak. âMoneyâ has the chance to stay in the title picture with a win over his fellow âoldâ fighter.
