Tom Aspinall FINALLY has a UFC fight and his first title defense.

The UFC heavyweight champion defends his undisputed UFC heavyweight title against Ciryl Gane at UFC 321 on Oct. 25 in Abu Dhabi. It will be the fight fight for Aspinall since he defeated Curtis Blaydes at UFC 304 on July 27, 2024.

For Gane, it will be his third UFC title shot in the heavyweight division. He lost previous title shots to Jon Jones via submission at UFC 285 and Francis Ngannou via decision at UFC 270.

What a mess not only Gane is coming off a loss shamelessly painted as paper win but if he somehow pull off the upset the ufc will be left with Francis’s leftovers that were also finished by Jones as a champion.
Right now they can still claim to have the best heayweight in the world as their champion, if Gane win it would be a nightmare to promote him.

I hate the fact UFC went all in on Jon and had no plan B they were working on which they could have gone to with Tom this summer to fight if Jon declined. They were dead set on Jon vs Tom in November which in itself sucks as it’s UFC saying we’re fine with a belt only being defended once a year. Once Jon made it clear he’s not fighting, it’s only they put the wheels in motion to book another fight and we got to wait another 4 months for it to happen.
It’s such a waste of Tom’s prime for him to have to go 15 months between fights when he’s perfectly healthy. For a multi-billion dollar company, this was all so poorly handled I don’t know how heads don’t roll. It’s no wonder the interest in UFC is not growing.
