TL;DR
- Battlefield 6 was officially revealed in July, and fans eagerly await future trailers to reveal more about the latest iteration.
- New mechanics, modes, and visual enhancements will improve the first-person shooter’s formula in Battlefield 6.
- We’re hoping to see a wide array of game modes, expansive map destruction, and character models that are realistic rather than cosmetic.
- If Battlefield 6 is successful, then it could dominate the first-person shooter market in 2025.
Battlefield 6 is an opportunity to expand on the FPS franchise like never before. For years, fans have voiced their hopes for BF6, so July’s reveal trailer reinvigorated the community.
We’ve put together a Battlefield 6 wishlist that details 10 things we want to see in Battlefield 6, as there are plenty of mechanics that we believe deserve attention in EA’s latest FPS.
What is Battlefield in 2025?

Battlefield as a franchise has significantly evolved throughout the years, and the fan base at large has taken note of some of the best and worst decisions in the franchise’s history. Battlefield fans often prefer realistic and slow-paced gameplay over the futuristic themes that have dominated other FPS games in recent years.
At its core, Battlefield is the tale of realistic combat in a gritty environment, with unique mechanics like map destruction and fun vehicles.
10 things we want in Battlefield 6
The list below highlights the improvements we’d like to see in Battlefield 6 at launch.
Vehicles for every terrain

The vehicles in Battlefield are one of its main appeals, as they help you traverse the huge maps with ease. We hope to see vehicles that can help you travel on land, water, and air. A snowmobile would also be fun if the terrain calls for it.
A focused story mode about a single character

One of the things that may make or break Battlefield 6 is its story mode. The campaign should focus on a single character, in our opinion, although the plot points will also determine how popular the story is with the Battlefield fan base.
Realistic cosmetics

Though we don’t mind the cartoon cosmetics in games like Fortnite, we don’t want to see many third-party crossovers in Battlefield 6. We think cosmetics should only be available if they’re realistic, so that the original spirit of Battlefield will remain in its sixth iteration.
Destructible environments that feel real

Many environments in Battlefield are destructible, so we expect Battlefield 6 to keep this classic mechanic. However, we want destructible bridges, buildings, and terrains that feel real, with rubble and other debris. Destructible maps are one of the key aspects that make Battlefield unique, so we want the destruction to affect more objects and be more advanced than in past titles.
A wide range of game modes

Call of Duty, Fortnite, and Siege X all offer various game modes that feature different mechanics. Between Team Deathmatch, Battle Royale, and Capture the Flag, there are a plethora of modes that could be implemented in Battlefield 6. A wide array of modes will help keep the player count healthy in BF6, plus more ways to play will draw new players into the fun.
Larger player counts

Huge teams are what make Battlefield such a realistic and exhilarating experience. Other FPS games usually offer matches with teams of 5-10 players, so we want Battlefield 6 to offer even greater team counts. Perhaps a mode with 100 players on each team would help Battlefield 6 ascend to the FPS hall of fame.
No bots

Bots have become more common in online games within the last decade, so one of the things we don’t want to see in Battlefield 6 is NPC enemies. Though bots may be necessary for some FPS games, they would likely ruin the unique immersion that Battlefield provides to players.
Official support for esports

EA has done a lot to support the esports scene in its free-to-play battle royale, Apex Legends. As competitive video games gain new popularity among gamers, it makes sense that Battlefield would evolve to be an esports title. Our hope is that Battlefield 6 will have a dedicated ranked mode and official support for future tournaments, which is likely if BF6 is well-received.
A smooth experience on day one

A big problem in the video game industry is games that are released before they’re ready. Glitches and other unresolved issues are common in games at release, so we want a smooth launch for Battlefield 6 and a finished title on release day. Since Battlefield 6 is a multiplayer title, it’s especially important that it be exploit-free.
Maps of all shapes and sizes

Like other Battlefield games, BF6 should offer a wide assortment of different terrains to traverse. We’d love to see grasslands, jungles, deserts, and even snowy mountains so that every match feels like a different world. Diversity of environment is one of our top priorities for Battlefield 6, and each map should ideally have various types of destructible objects.
Conclusion
A new Battlefield is only released every few years, so it’s harder for it to retain its fan base as consistently as Call of Duty. There are dozens of mechanics we’d like to see return in the sixth instalment, but we want a polished experience above all else.
There are many ways that Battlefield 6 could expand upon the FPS series, though it shouldn’t stray too far from its realistic roots. Battlefield 2042 had highs and lows, and we’re hoping that EA took notes on its best and worst features.
