Vancouver Surge has released its entire Call of Duty League (CDL) roster ahead of the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 season.
As a result, the franchise will now be looking to revamp the lineup with four new players, along with a coach.
The decision to part ways with its roster comes during the off-season after Vancouver Surge made three Grand Finals appearances across the Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 season, marking the franchise’s most successful year since its rebranding from Seattle Surge in 2024.
Along with this, the franchise also scored a second-place finish at the Esports World Cup, losing to OpTic Gaming in the final.
Jovan ‘04‘ Rodriguez, Byron ‘Nastie‘ Plumridge, Travis ‘Neptune‘ McCloud, and Jordan ‘Abuzah‘ François are now unrestricted free agents, enabling them to find another organisation to represent next season.
In addition to the roster parting ways, the coach, Ray ‘Rambo’ Lussier, has also left and is seeking new coaching opportunities within the CDL.
“Thank you for your dedication, passion, and hard work that delivered memories we’ll never forget,” said the franchise on social media. “From clearing the slate to raising the tide, we’ll aim high on building a new wave for the Surge.”
What’s Next For Vancouver Surge?
Following the departure of its Black Ops 6 roster and head coach, Vancouver Surge has yet to reveal any new signings for the Black Ops 7 season.
With several months remaining until the 2026 season begins, an announcement about the next wave of players to represent the franchise could be a while away.
After multiple Grand Final appearances, Vancouver Surge will be seeking a lineup capable of consistently making it to the latter stages of tournaments and competing for trophies in Black Ops 7.
