The 2025 LCK Grand Finals will be broadcast live for the first time ever on terrestrial TV network MBC (Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation) on September 28th.
The announcement was made directly by the LCK, with the league also confirming that the LCK 2025 champions will be crowned at the Inspire Arena in Incheon, South Korea. This is the same venue recently used by T1 for its own Home Ground event.
According to a blog post by MBC, LCK and the television and radio broadcast company will be looking to expand the scope of its collaboration, exploring various opportunities, including producing a pre-season special documentary. Only the LCK Grand Finals will be broadcast, with the lower bracket final on September 27th, streamed live on NAVER, SOOP and YouTube in Korea.
This marks the first time that an LCK match will be broadcast live on a terrestrial network. Prior to this milestone, only League of Legends demonstration matches at the 2018 Jakarta-Palembang Asian Games were broadcast live (on KBS and SBS), back when esports weren’t considered a medal event.
LCK Continues to Lead the Charge for League of Legends Esports
With record-breaking viewership numbers, the LCK is the most-watched league among League of Legends’ tier one regions.
Its great success is thanks to not only the competitiveness of its teams, which have won the last four World Championships, but also the presence of League of Legends icon, Faker, who recently extended his contract with T1 until 2029.
Earlier this year, gaming channel OnGameNet (OGN) also secured a two-year broadcasting deal with the LCK, further proving LCK’s appeal in the industry.
The winners of the LCK season final will also become the number one seed for the LCK at the year-end League of Legends World Championship. The event will take place in China across Beijing, Shanghai and Chengdu, from October 14th to November 9th.
