Some positive news for the Las Vegas Strip casino industry after months of negatives – revenue in July increased 5.6 per cent compared to July 2024.
Las Vegas Strip Revenue Hits $749 Million
According to data released by the Nevada Gaming Control Board today, Las Vegas Strip casino revenue was USD $749 million, compared to USD $709 million in July 2024.
Revenue for downtown was up 3.6% year over year, at USD $74.4 million (USD $71.8 million in July 2024).
Nevada casinos overall reported USD $1.359 billion in revenue in July, up 3.99% compared to July 2024 (USD $1.3 billion).
Canada Still a Big Story
Clark County came in at USD $1.15 billion, a 3.24% increase compared to July 2024.
Casino revenues were up, but visitation numbers were down. According to Harry Reid International Airport data, 4.4 million arrived and departed Las Vegas domestically in July, down from 4.7 million in July 2024, a 5.9% decrease
Year to date, 29.8 million people have arrived and departed from Las Vegas, down from 31.2 million through the end of July, a 4.6% decrease.
Decrease in International Travellers
The number of international travellers to Las Vegas was down 3.8% in July – 279,726, compared to 290,883 in July 2024. Year to date international travel is down 1.8%.
Canada is the story on the airline passenger summary front. In July 39,197 arrived via Air Canada (a 24.5% decrease compared to July 2024, albeit an 8.7% increase from June), one of the country’s major airlines.
WestJet, another major Canadian airline, saw a 5.6% drop in Las Vegas-bound passengers in July compared to the prior month (44,273, compared to 46,878 in June), and a whopping 33.6% decrease in passengers compared to June 2024.
