Fortnite OG Season 6: Everything we know

Fortnite OG quickly became a highly popular Fortnite game mode when it was first released back in November 2023. The OG series recreates various Fortnite chapters and seasons from 2017 to 2019 – considered the classic Fortnite period – such as weapons, maps and items. 

Due to the high player count of each OG season since release, Fortnite OG has now become a permanent game mode in Fortnite. At the time of writing, September 2025, the next OG release is Fortnite OG Season 6. We’re going to break down everything we know so far about Season 6, so let’s get into it. 

Fortnite OG Season 6 is set to release on October 3, 2025, Eastern Time. This converts accordingly for the following time zones: 

This information has been confirmed on the current battle pass screen in-game, but it was also suggested in an official Epic Games blog post from August 7, which detailed Fortnite OG Chapter 1 Season 5. In the post, the current Fortnite OG season is said to last from August 7 to October 3, 2025, Eastern Time, which aligns with the information on the battle pass screen. 

This release date makes sense in terms of a similar pattern for the other Fortnite OG seasons. After its success following the release in November 2023, Fortnite OG returned in December 2024 in a permanent mode. OG Chapter 1 Season 1 lasted a month, but since then, each season has lasted two months, progressing in a seasonal cycle. 

The Fortnite OG seasons bring back key elements from each original chapter and season of Fortnite, so it’s safe to assume that Fortnite OG Season 6 will bring the map from the original Chapter 1, Season 6 from 2018. The original Chapter 1, Season 6 lasted from September to December and had a spooky, Halloween theme due to running through the Halloween season. 

While nothing has been officially confirmed yet, there are several features that will likely make a comeback. Let’s take a closer look at what these could be. 

Cube Monsters were unleashed in Fortnite in Chapter 1, Season 6. These creatures are basically zombies, and were part of the Fortnitemares Halloween event. Cube Monsters spawn from “Cube Fragments” and add an element of PVE to the standard Fortnite Battle Royale Mode due to their aggressive nature. Cube Monsters offer a range of loot when they are defeated, making for a fun and practical enemy type. 

Certain POIs from Chapter 1, Season 6 could also make a return in Fortnite OG Season 6. One particularly noteworthy POI is the Floating Island. This was a large, levitating island that hovered just above the area of Loot Lake. The house that was once on Loot Lake can be found on the Floating Island, as it emerges directly underneath the lake. In the original Season 6, the island was a high-reward, but high-risk location, making it particularly noteworthy and increasing the chance of it returning. 

The Haunted Castle is another noteworthy structure from the original Chapter 1, Season 6 that is likely to come back in OG Season 6. The building is, as the name suggests, a Gothic-style castle east of Haunted Hills, located on a mountain peak. With Fortnite OG Season 6 dropping in the Halloween season, it seems like a no-brainer to bring the Haunted Castle back. 

A classic loot pool is one of the key nostalgia factors of the Fortnite OG game mode, so we’ll likely see plenty of returning loot in the upcoming season. As well as general loot, the Halloween-themed loot released back in Chapter 1, Season 6, will likely reappear to coincide with the Halloween season. This includes the likes of the Pumpkin Launcher – a cosmetic Rocket Launcher variant that fires an exploding pumpkin rocket – and the Fiend Hunter Crossbow. 

The Fiend Hunter Crossbow is an important weapon when it comes to slaying Cube Monsters, as it was designed especially to be effective against them. If Cube Monsters make a return, expect to see the Fiend Hunter Crossbow too. 

Other than the release date, no other information has been officially confirmed when it comes to Fortnite OG Chapter 1, Season 6. However, it’s safe to assume that the Halloween themes from the original Season 6 will make a return, seeing as the OG Season 6 will start just as the Halloween season begins.
