FaZe Clan has announced the benching of Håvard ‘rain‘ Nygaard from its Counter-Strike 2 roster.
The decision opens the door for Russel ‘Twistzz‘ Van Dulken’s return to the starting lineup after signing with the organisation from Team Liquid.
Announced on September 29th ahead of FaZe Clan’s participation in ESL Pro League Season 22, rain’s departure from the team brings an end to a near-decade-long tenure representing the organisation, after joining in January 2016.
In an X post, rain reveals that he is “beyond proud” of FaZe Clan’s achievements over the past ten years. Notable achievements include victories at ELEAGUE Premier 2017, PGL Antwerp Major in 2022, and ESL Pro League Season 17 in 2023.
Following his departure, rain plans on continuing his career in Counter-Strike 2 esports, hinting at transitioning to in-game leadership with a new team.
“My journey in CS2 is far from over. I’m not retiring. I will keep competing and growing as a player. I’m open to offers for any role, and while stepping into the IGL role would be a new challenge for me, it’s one I’m eager to embrace,” said the Norwegian rifler.
A New Chapter For FaZe Clan
Rain’s benching is the latest roster change FaZe Clan has made in 2025. Throughout the year, the organisation has benched and signed several players in a bid to return to the top of Counter-Strike 2 esports.
Twistzz returns to the starting lineup two years after departing FaZe Clan for Team Liquid. The rifler will compete under the FaZe banner in Stage 2 of Pro League, beginning on October 4th.
Currently ranked 12th in the Valve Regional Standings (VRS), FaZe Clan has all but guaranteed a place at the StarLadder Budapest Major in November. A strong performance at Pro League should cement a place in Stage 2 of the season-ending event.
