Marvel Rivals Ignite Stage 2 in the EMEA region has concluded, crowning Virtus.pro as its champion after several weeks of intense matchups.

The organisation takes home the lion’s share of its $250,000 (~£186,000) prize pool, and is one of three EMEA teams to have successfully qualified for the Ignite Grand Finals.

Virtus.pro began the Group Stage with a bang, topping its respective group with a 4-1 win/loss ratio. Heading into the Playoffs, it defeated OG Seed 3-0, and quickly followed with a narrow 3-2 win against Chopped.

Virtus.pro suffered a 2-3 loss against EMEA Stage 1 champions, Citadel Gaming (Brr Brr Patapim), in the Upper Bracket Finals. At risk of elimination, Virtus.pro fought tooth and nail against Natus Vincere, which had signed the Mid Season Finals champion roster, and prevailed 3-1.

Ignite Stage 2 ended with a Grand Finals match between Citadel Gaming and Virtus.pro. After six rounds of play, Virtus.pro claimed a revenge victory, ending the final match 4-2.

Here is the full breakdown of the Grand Finals between Virtus.pro (VP) and Citadel Gaming (CTG):

  • Game one: CTG 2 – 1 VP – Birnin T’challa, Domination
  • Game two: CTG 0- 3 VP – Midtown, Convoy
  • Game three: CTG 1- 2 VP – Central Park, Convergence
  • Game four: CTG 0- 2 VP – Hel’s Heaven, Domination
  • Game five: CTG 2- 1 VP – Yggdrasill Path, Convoy
  • Game six: CTG 0- 1 VP – Hall of Djalia, Convergence
  • Final Score: CTG 2- 4 VP

The results are in stark contrast to Ignite Stage 1 earlier this year, when Virtus.pro previously failed to qualify for the Ignite Mid Season Finals.

Ignite Stage 2 in other Regions

Other regions have also decided their champions and the rosters that have successfully qualified for the Ignite Grand Finals.

Asia has crowned Crazy Racoon as its Stage 2 champions, claiming the lion’s share of a $100,000 prize pool. It has qualified alongside REJECT for the Grand Finals, with Gen.G Esports just missing out after placing in third.

Oceania saw a surprising turn of events as the previous Mid Season Finals roster, Ground Zero Gaming, failed to qualify for the Ignite Grand Finals. Instead, it was an underdog faction called ChopperMag that claimed first place after defeating Vulcan Red 4-0 in the final match.

China was one of the first regions to finish Ignite Stage 2, crowning OUG as its champion. The organisation qualifies for the LAN event in DreamHack with runners up Aconyx.

Only Americas remains, which recently entered its Playoffs. Organisations such as ENVY, Sentinels, and 100 Thieves will battle for one of four qualification spots in the Ignite Grand Finals. Americas Ignite Stage 2 will end on October 12th, and all teams for the international Atlanta event will have been decided
