Team Liquid support player Aydin ‘Insania‘ Sarkohi has announced his retirement from Dota 2 esports.

The Swede brings an end to a six-year tenure representing Team Liquid, after joining from Alliance in 2019.

Announced by Team Liquid on social media, Insania has called time on a ten-year career filled with notable tournament victories.

Throughout his career, Insania has cemented himself as one of Europe’s brightest Dota 2 talents. In 2024, he achieved victory at The International 2024 as Team Liquid defeated Gaimin Gladiators via a convincing 3-0 sweep in the Grand Final.

“Thanks for the overwhelming number of people saying kind and nice words,” said Insania on social media following his retirement announcement.

“I’ll be taking a break but will be looking to work in the Dota scene again, whether that’s casting or coaching.”

To commemorate his six years representing Team Liquid, the organisation has revealed plans to ‘share something special to honour his legacy’ in the future.

Insania’s Dota 2 Legacy

Insania leaves behind an accomplished career filled with notable event wins and representing some of the largest esports organisations in the world.

In 2017, he joined Ninjas in Pyjamas before signing for Alliance in early 2018. During his time at Alliance, the team won several regional tournaments, including joinDOTA Season 13 Europe and the GG.Bet Birmingham Invitational.

His time on Team Liquid, however, emphasised his Tier 1 success. A third-place finish at The International 2022 built momentum into 2023, with second-place finishes at the Lima Major 2023, DreamLeague Season 19 and the ESL One Berlin Major 2023.

2024 brought more success, with victory at Elite League Season 2 leading to lifting the Aegis at The International 2024. In addition to success at The International, Insania continued to score victories throughout 2025, winning PGL Wallachia Season 3 and Season 4.
