Ubisoft has shared an update addressing the Rainbow Six community’s biggest concerns following the launch of the Siege X overhaul.
The developer has shared that it will be making several improvements to anti-cheat, balancing, and ranked ahead of the Munich Major in November.
Ubisoft acknowledges that the tactical shooter title failed to ‘keep pace’ with the surge of cheaters that swarmed the game following the move to free-to-play. It shared that it will target high-profile cheat developers by improving its cheat detection. The developers also added that it aimed to disrupt marketplace exploits and issue permanent bans to players who are found using them.
For balancing, several operators will receive new buffs after feedback that recent updates brought in too many nerfs. In patch 3.3, releasing on October 14th, Denari’s nerf will be reversed and the Glaive-12 will be buffed. Other changes also include returning Solis’ impact grenade, and in Year 10 Season 4, Thermite, Hibana and Maverick will receive buffs.
Year 10 Season 4 will also introduce a new feature called Testing Grounds, where players can experiment with features and give feedback before they are added to the live game. Ubisoft confirmed that changes to armour and speed will be the first subject.
Ranked Changes Coming to R6 Siege X
The post states that Ranked 2.0, which launched alongside the Siege X update, didn’t ‘hit the mark’ as Ubisoft intended, and so new changes will be made starting from Year 10 Season 4.
For example, matchmaking is expected to be more precise, taking into account rank and squad size.
A ‘ranked overhaul’ is also in the works, offering visible ranked rewards and skill progression. Workshops for the overhaul will be run during the Munich Major, with a release scheduled for sometime in the first half of Year 11.
Ubisoft also commented on how recent seasonal content ‘felt lighter’ following the launch of Siege X. The FPS developer promised to ‘adjust’ its seasonal approach to bring more content during mid-season updates, with further details shared during the upcoming major.
