The Rampart Casino in Las Vegas’ Summerlin neighborhood was robbed shortly before 10:29 p.m. on Thursday November 13. The suspect, described by police as an “unknown race male,” walked into the casino concealing an AR-style assault rifle. He disguised himself as a security officer to minimize guest suspicion.

Police said the man entered the casino through the parking garage and walked to the main cashier’s cage, where he produced the rifle then demanded money. An employee complied with the order.

Rampart Casino opened in July 1999 as part of what was then called The Resort at Summerlin. It is owned by Hotspur Resorts, which operates the JW Marriott Las Vegas Resort & Spa where the casino is located. Its 50,000 square-foot casino floor features more than 1,200 slot machines and 30 table games. (Image: Shutterstock)

Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Detectives responded immediately after receiving the call at 10:29 p.m., swarming the area and utilizing a helicopter to help secure the property’s perimeter.

However, by the time they arrived, the suspect had apparently exited the casino the same way he entered.

Neither police nor the casino revealed how much money he removed from the property.

Police shared photos of the robber on Saturday, November 15. In addition to the blue and yellow security jacket, he  wore a ballistic helmet, blue sunglasses and a blue mask concealing his face.
