Call of Duty League (CDL) franchise Vancouver Surge has moved Kaci ‘Lqgend‘ Sabri to the bench after two weeks of online qualifiers.

The former Halo world champion joined the franchise in November following the conclusion of the 2025 Halo Championship Series (HCS) season.

Announced on December 16th, 2025, the move follows a disappointing start to the Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 season for the franchise. Over two weeks of online qualifiers for Major 1, Vancouver Surge sits in 12th place with three defeats to its name. The franchise is the only team to not score a single map win this season.

Instead of competing in Challengers to find his feet in Call of Duty esports, Lqgend jumped straight into the top tier, hoping to continue the success from his time representing OpTic Gaming in the HCS.

“Sabri has a high ceiling and a lot of upside, and this move gives him the time and space to continue developing without the pressure of immediate results,” said Ricky ‘Atura’ Lugo, General Manager and Head Coach of Vancouver Surge. “We believed in his potential and remain confident in his future.”

As a result of the change, Lqgend will compete in the North American Challengers circuit to hone his skills. Thanks to his time in the CDL, Lqgend has earned 6,000 Pro Points, placing him at the top of the Challengers leaderboard.

What Next For Vancouver Surge?

With the third week of Major 1 qualifiers taking place from January 9th to 11th, 2026, Vancouver Surge has four weeks to recruit a new player to its starting roster in a bid to score its first win of the season.

The franchise has yet to confirm a replacement for Lqgend, who becomes one of several former Halo players competing in Call of Duty’s second tier. With more experience under his belt, it will be interesting to see if he can make an impact in Call of Duty’s competitive circuit.
