Red Bull has announced the location of its upcoming Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) esports tournament, Red Bull Solo Legends.
The national final of competition will take place at Mumbai’s Royal Opera House, marking the first time the landmark has hosted an esports event.
Launched in October, Red Bull Solo Legends is one of the largest BGMI tournaments to be held in India. On December 2nd, 32 players from the open qualifiers will compete against 24 professional players and eight Chaos Agents across five matches to crown the ultimate champion.
The winner of the event will earn the title of India’s best solo BGMI player, along with an exclusive Red Bull Racing experience. Details of what the experience includes were not disclosed.
The national finals feature some of India’s top BGMI esports players. Jonathan ‘Jonathan Gaming‘ Amaral, Tanishk ‘Admino‘ Singh, Ashutosh ‘Punk‘ Singh, Sahil ‘Omega‘ Jakhar are among the 24 professionals battling it out for victory.
Built in the early 1900s, Mumbai’s Royal Opera House is India’s only surviving opera house. The venue has hosted several music performances and film screenings in recent years. Esports is no stranger to hosting events in opera houses. In 2015, the Call of Duty Championship Europe Regional Final took place at London’s Royal Opera House.
BGMI in 2025
BGMI remains one of India’s most popular esports titles. In November, JioBLAST unveiled All Stars vs India, a creator-led tournament held in collaboration with Campa Energy.
Taking place at NESCO, Mumbai, the event will see teams compete for a share of a ₹1m (~£8,627) prize pool.
Elsewhere, the Indian state of Rajasthan has used the battle royale title as part of an initiative aiming to integrate esports into the country’s mainstream ecosystem. The inaugural edition of the Rajasthan State Esports Championship featured four titles, with college students competing for outright victory.
